Help

Next to the main menu of BL Banking Web is the button Display help, which opens this manual. A new browser window shows the help page for the opened application page. The manual is divided into subject areas that correspond to the structure of the program. The manual website can also be used independently of the application.

The help window

The help window is divided into a navigation area on the left and a topic area on the right. The navigation area can be switched between the table of contents and search results via tabs at the bottom of the page.

There are buttons for the following actions above the navigation area:

• print a selected topic (also with subtopics)
• search in the selected topic (also with subtopics)
• collapse the table of contents to the top level
• link the display of the table of contents to the topic area
• maximize the navigation area and hide the topic area

There are buttons for the following actions above the topic area:

• highlight search terms in the topic
• browse through previously opened topics
• open the start page and close the table of contents
• link the display of the topic area to the table of contents
• maximize the topic area and hide the navigation area

Search

Enter a search term in the field at the top left and start the full-text search by clicking on Go. The search result will only list pages that contain the search term exactly as entered. Placeholders and logical operators can be used in the search term to expand the result.

• wildcard * for any string of characters, statement* will find e.g. statement, statements etc.
• wildcard ? for a single character, C5? will find e.g. C52, C53, C54 etc.
• quotation marks " " for a complex term, e.g. "Inform about new program versions" will find all mentions of the field designator so named
• operator AND for the conjunction of several search terms, e.g. bank AND connection will find pages that contain both terms
• operator OR for the disjunction of several search terms, e.g. connection OR EBICS will find pages that contain either one or the other term
• operator NOT for the negation of a search term, e.g. files NOT sent will find pages, that contain the word files but not the word sent

Scope

The entire manual is searched by default. For this reason, All topics is displayed at the top of the help window behind the Scope link. Scopes can be used to limit the search and the table of contents to selected main sections. To define a scope, click on Scope. A dialog box opens. Click on the button New. Select the main sections to be searched and name the scope accordingly. You can now use Scope to choose between All topics and a self-defined search area to search specifically.
