What is EBICS?

EBICS stands for "Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard" and it is a standard for the transmission of payment transaction data via the Internet. The German Banking Industry ("Die deutsche Kreditwirtschaft" – DK) was in charge of the introduction of the EBICS standard. EBICS is now supported by all banks in Germany and France as well as many banks in other countries. The EBICS company is continuously developing the standard with the aim of always adapting it to the latest state of the art and establishing it throughout Europe. The EBICS specification is published on the website ebics.org.

The central components of EBICS are modern communication procedures, maximum security thanks to encryption, multi-bank capability and the distributed electronic signature.

Corporate customers who wish to use EBICS require a bank connection and a client program such as BL Banking Web. You will receive the bank connection from your bank, including the access data that you enter in BL Banking Web. To initialize your EBICS access as part of the initial installation, see chapter Setup.

FAQ 252

Why do I as a user not see a function that other users see?

There may be several reasons for this:

  1. You do not fulfill content requirements. For example, if you do not have a bank connection, you will not see functions that require a bank connection.

  2. An administrator or manager has revoked your access to a function. This ensures that each user only has access to the functions that correspond to his responsibilities.

If you need a function that you do not currently see, an administrator/manager can grant you the corresponding authorization.

FAQ 278

Why am I not able to print from BL Banking Web?

BL Banking Web does not send print processes directly to a printer, but generates PDF files that you can download to your computer and print on paper if required.

Note: Each user can edit his personal print settings in the user preferences (page numbers, time stamp, user name, logo and, if authorized, amounts of salary payments).
